Just got my official GMAT scores.
GMAT 740 Q51 V38 AWA 4.0
I am concerned about my low AWA score and relatively mediocre verbal score. Will it be worth it to take my GMAT again for it?
I am guessing the low AWA score was probably due to its length(about 250-300 words each) and I dont feel there were any serious language flaws or absence of logic. Is it true that B-schools prefer to have a look at the essays if they see such a mismatch of scores?

My profile highlights are as follows:
B.S from a reputed Maritime College in India. GPA 3.6
3 years work experience as Navigating officer in an oil major
Excellent growth in short time.

Would appreciate your suggestions on which colleges I can apply for and whether I should wait and apply for 2013 batch.

Hi! Your overall GMAT score is strong, and the good news is that many schools focus more on the quant portion than the verbal. As for your question about the AWA score, that is not something I am familiar enough with to appropriate answer.

You also ask what schools you should apply to. That is a difficult question to answer, given my limited knowledge about you. There are so many factors that should go into picking a school - location, study interest, size, etc.
