Hi,

My understanding for the format of the GMAT exam goes this way - For Quantitative section there are 37 Questions in 75 mins and for Verbal it is 41 questions in 75 mins. After reading some of the forums and other sites, I understand there are experimental questions as well. If my above understanding is right, can you please clarify my below queries

1.Are these experimental questions part of 37 questions and 41 questions?
2.Are there going to be additional questions if I finish the quota of 37 & 41 Qs in 75 mins each?
Please do not relate Questions 1 & 2 together, its totally irrespective of each other.

Also in my analytical writing exams, words such as "won't" "don't" "couldn't" can be used ? or is it better to use the full form of "will not" " could not" " would not" "do not" etc

Please do not hesitate to ask me back if I am not clear with my questions.

Thanks, Raj

The experimental questions are counted in the 37 quant and 41 verbal questions. Approximately 10 of those questions will be experimental and the rest will count toward your score.

You will always have exactly 37 quant questions and exactly 41 verbal questions - they will not give you more if you finish early.

It's okay to use contractions in the essays, but you shouldn't use too many - it's better to write things out fully when writing a formal essay.
