I just signed up for the live 9 week course and am excited to get underway!
Probably a silly question but.. Is the first CAT offered through the student center the practice test we are supposed to take before the first class. Just wanted to be sure before I started on it.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi,
Yes, the first practice test is the CAT found in your student center, which you should take before your first session.

If you have already taken the real GMAT, is it important to take the first CAT before the course begins?

We would still suggest it. Unlike the official test, our tests do give you detailed analysis of your strengths and weaknesses which give you a good idea on how to structure your studies. In addition, if you want to receive your post course assessment with your instructor (an analysis of where you are and what to focus your studies on before the taking the exam), you must have completed at least 3 CATs during the course. However, if you do not have time to take the exam before your first session, you can always take it before your second. The idea is to use it as a diagnostic of your skill level going into the course.
