Dear experts,

I have two questions -

1. Please refer to Manhattan SC guide 4, page no 55.

Can the correct answer be -

She argues THAT the agency acts WITH reckless abandon AND dis-regard for human life AND property. AND THAT it should therefore be shut down.

The sentence thus becomes -

She argues THAT the agency acts WITH X AND Y. AND THAT it should therefore be shut down.

2. There is a question in OG similar to the below sentence -

In the first period of X, Y was manifested in the rise of a,b,and c, and in the victory of the d

Assuming that there is no issue with the above sentence, is the below sentence correct -

In the first period of X, Y was manifested in the rise of a,b,and c, and the victory of the d

Here I believe that in is understood and thus can be left.

Please share your thoughts.

i don't see this problem on page 55, but if you get rid of the internal period this sentence is okay. in your second example you should keep the preposition so as to avoid confusion, but you will probably not see a GMAT question where the only difference between the two answer choices is the inclusion or omission of "in"..
