Hello,

I had a doubt in GMAT math question :

Lines N and P lie in the x-y plane. Is the slope of the line N less than the slope of line P?
(1) Lines N and N intersect at (5, 1) (2) The y-intercept of line N is greater than y-intercept of line P.

Is the answer B? If not, I would like to know what the correct answer is and why.
Also, I had a clarification. When a question says y-intercept of a line is greater than y-intercept of another line, are they talking about the absolute of values of these points from zero , or are they considering the signs as well?

For example, if Line N has a y-intercept of +1 , and P a y-intercept of -2, then, if we are considering the distance from origin, P is greater, but if we consider even sign, P is less than N.

Please clarify.
Thank You.

hi

i think the answer is C. Please let me kn ow the right answer.

y intercept is found when you put x=0 when the eqaution is in the form y=mx+c

B is wrong cos if you take eg of eq 2x+3y=3, 2x+5y=16. and then try for -2x+3y=3 and 2x+5y=16 you will get opposite answer.

Please post the right answer and the source if possible.
