conflict expression btw book and HW bank???

Dear instructor please help:

I am very confused about this kind of expression and found different interpretations btw the FDP book and HW bank:

From FoM 1.8.1 GMATish: The Thomas family has twice as many cats as they do dogs.
-----The answer shows that the translation is C= 2D

In FDP book Action 7.13: Jar A contains twice as many red jellybeans as yellow jellybeans.
-----The book says this is translated into Y=2R

Why aren't these two consistent??

Please, please help, I hope to remember the correct one.

This is correct.

This is wrong: It should translate into R=2Y
This is because, if we assume the number of YJ to be x, thenRJ=2x...

The book was correct--I made a wrong note.

But this is so hard to remember and always confuses me.
