A vending machine is designed to dispense 8 ounces of coffee into a cup. After a test that recorded the number of ounces of coffee in each of 1000 cups dispensed by the vending machine, the 12 listed amounts, in ounces, were selected from the data. If the 1000 recorded amounts have a mean score of 8.1 ounces and a standard deviation of 0.3 ounce, how many of the 12 listed amounts are within 1.5 standard deviations of the mean.

please read the forum rules: read-before-you-post-general-verbal-folder-guidelines-t2718.html

you can't post problems in this folder without giving the ORIGINAL SOURCE of the problem -- i.e., the company or author that first produced the problem (not, for instance, a forum or other secondhand source on which it has previously been posted).
if you don't know the original source, then i'm sorry, but you can't post the problem here.
this applies to MGMAT problems as well -- there are over three thousand problems in our database, so we won't recognize all of them from memory.

we will delete this thread within a week if the original source of the problem is not posted. thanks.

These problems are from GMAT Prep Software downloaded from www.mba.com. I would appreciate on letting me know if any other clarifications are to be provided. I'm looking out for help in solving these problems.

Hi sanjeet,
We'll be happy to help you if you'll repost to the forum in which we handle GMAT Prep problems: gmat-prep-math-f30.html
