Hi dear all,

I have just finished my GMAT and find it very different from the preparation materials that I have practiced. Before this exam, all my practice tests using PREP or MANHATTAN are above 740. However, the real exam I only scored 680.

Overall, my impression is there are many new patterns of questions and the level of difficulty (especially Math and SC) has significantly increased.

I have serious concern over the current preparation materials in the market and worry that they maybe out of date already due to the change in GMAC strategy.

Does anyone share the same experience and can MGGMAT provide some comments over this issues.

i am also victim of this change...people got 80-100 point below their average mock test score
so this meaning issue is a big one

puneet, I assume you're referring to the news that has come out recently about some new emphases and changes to the GMAT.

Note that the "meaning" issue is not a new issue. Meaning has always been tested on SC - it's just being tested more frequently now. Someone who was already studying meaning would be okay... but my guess is that a lot of people have been trying to make SC grammar more like quant (here are the rules; follow the rules). If you do that, you're going to find SC meaning questions a lot harder - and if there are more of those in general on the test, then you're going to find the whole test harder.

Working on a list of OG questions that reflect this "meaning" thing. :) But you can find a bunch yourself. For example, I suspect that pretty much anything labeled "Modifier" could be considered a meaning question. (After all, what's a misplaced modifier? Something that messes up the meaning by referring to the wrong thing.)
