The bluer light that energy saving devices such as compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) emit, closely mimic daylight. But the flip side is it disrupts the body’s production of the hormone melatonin more than older style filament bulbs, which cast a yellower light. Melatonin, thought to protect against some breast and prostate cancers, is produced and secreted by the brain’s pineal gland round the clock, with highest secretion levels being at night.
Which of the following can be concluded from the above? A. People suffering from breast and prostate cancers have problem in production of melatonin hormone. B. Women who work in night shifts, mainly suffer from breast cancer. C. CFL is the main energy saving device being used worldwide. D. Energy saving light bulbs could result in higher breast cancer rates if used late at night. E. Those who use older styled yellower light bulbs, are least likely to suffer from breast and prostate cancer.
unable to decide between D and E. Any takers, please help. I think D is correct as E uses extreme works.
Thanks
