what do you get from the 9-session course that you don't get from reading the books?

is the same material covered in the 9-session course that is in the books? is there additional material in the course that is not in the books?

basically, why should i spend $1440 for the course when i can buy the books and self study?

While you will get greater insights into how the GMAT works and will cover some additional practice questions, the material covered in our books for the most part closely matches the material we teach in our 9-session course. However, what you get with a full course that you do not get with a self-study package is an interactive teaching experience and the ability to ask questions and interact with your classmates. If you feel like you can navigate the terrain of the exam on your own, then the self-study package makes the most sense. However, if you feel like you'd benefit from someone to guide you from start to finish, then the in-person class would be ideal.

im in a 9 week course and if i had to do it again, i would just buy the books, the class room doesnt do much unless you have questionsthat cant be answered on these type of forumns...

That's exactly what it is - it is nice to carry around. This course is totally different to the books.
