Although Moliere's satirical play Tartuffe was condemned by his contemporaries, he is now considered the writer of one of the most famous French plays of all time.

A. was condemned by his contemporaries, he is now considered the writer of

B. was condemned by his contemporaries, it is now considered

C. resulted in condemnation by contemporaries, he is now considered to be the writer of

D. resulted in condemnation of him by contemporaries, it is now considered to be

E. condemned him by his contemporaries, it is now considered

OA: B

Instructor can you please explain, why B is correct.
I believe "his" has an ambiguous antecedant. Since Moliere's satirical play Tartuffe, here Moliere's is possesive.

Can you please explain me, why 'his' is correct?

I will explain why “his” is okay only after you make an attempt to demonstrate an ambiguity. You claim “his” is wrong because it is ambiguous, yet you don’t tell us two or more things you think it refers to. Until you do that, the burden of proof is on you.. 

[quote="vrajesh.dave"]Although Moliere's satirical play Tartuffe was condemned by his contemporaries, he is now considered the writer of one of the most famous French plays of all time.

B. was condemned by his contemporaries, it is now considered

C. resulted in condemnation by contemporaries, he is now considered to be the writer of

D. resulted in condemnation of him by contemporaries, it is now considered to be

E. condemned him by his contemporaries, it is now considered

Verb split(was, resulted, condemned)
Subject-verb- Subject is the Play verb was
Pronoun reference- incorrectly refers to Moliere instead of Moliere's play

Solve- use "it" instead of "he" to refer to the play correctly.

There is no issue with his contemporaries.

Please let me know if the explanation is correct.

the verb split is not really relevant here. the biggest thing to pay attention to is the pronouns, and all four incorrect answers use pronouns incorrectly. pronouns are low-hanging fruit, so you should go for them first. when you see a pronoun, try to identify the antecedent, and if there isn't an appropriate antecedent you can eliminate that answer choice..
