Manhattan GMAT's Guided Self-Study program is designed for self-motivated students who want to prep at their own pace. It's a good fit for someone operating under a tight deadline or who prefers a more flexible prep option that doesn't require scheduled class time.

  • Who is a good candidate for this program?

    Our self-study programs are designed for self-motivated individuals who are comfortable organizing their exam preparation without the structure of a live course. Our programs provide you with access to the full range of books and online tools that are available to our complete course students. Successful self-studiers are students who have strong time management skills and are able to process information independently.

    Unlike our complete courses, our self-study programs do not segment material into separate weeks. Rather, you are provided with all materials and online resources for a 6-month period, during which you can work through the content according to your own schedule. We do provide a suggested syllabus for you to follow, but you are free to cover the material when and how you see fit.

  • How long should I study for?

    As a self-study student, you will have access to all prep materials for 6 months. Most students find that a minimum of 2-3 months of study time is necessary to learn all of the topics tested on the GMAT. Depending on your previous exposure to the exam, you may find that you need more or less time to prepare. We recommend that you take an initial practice exam and spend a week or so studying before you book your official exam date.

  • What if I have questions?

    Guided Self-Study students receive two 30-minute Office Hour sessions, which can be used at any time within the 6-month access period. During these sessions, you will be able to speak one-on-one with one of our Instructors to review difficult content areas, practice a few problems, assess your practice exams, or discuss a game-plan for your remaining studies. We recommend that you complete at least one week of study and take your first practice exam before booking your first Office Hour, so that you can maximize your time with the Instructor.

  • When do I receive my materials?

    When placing your order, you will have the option to select Ground, 2-Day, or Next Day delivery service. Orders placed before 1:00 PM EST Monday-Friday will be processed and shipped the same day. Orders placed after 1:00 PM EST or on holidays and weekends will be processed on the following business day. Tracking information will be automatically emailed to you. Access to all online resources – including electronic versions of our books and the computer-adaptive practice exams – will be available in your Student Center immediately upon completion of your registration.
